A shift supervisor is a critical link in ensuring that the front of house is taken care of. At Wings, a shift supervisor:
- Fills in for other managers, as vacation time and time off dictates
- Ensures guest satisfaction, positive customer experience, service recovery, and table touching
- Ensures food quality and food safety
- Manages guest complaints
- Ensures cleanliness of restaurant
- Aids in controlling the front of house
- Trains, develops and coaches staff
- Schedules front of house staff (with the review of managers)
- Coordinates actions of cashier, greeter, seater, and servers to ensure timely guest service
- Coordinates actions of service assistants to ensure timely table cleaning
- Provides input into the performance evaluations of staff
- Manages uniform compliance
- Assigns stations and breaks
- Sends staff home as volume dictates (with oversight of manger on duty)
- Checks side work, pays out tips, and prepares dining room for next shift
- Communicates guest levels with kitchen manager or expeditor
